The SUNY Fredonia Cello Studio is a large and vibrant undergraduate group made up of majors from Music Performance, Education, Composition, Sound Recording, and Music Therapy. They have performance opportunities in Recital Seminar and in off-campus concerts, as well as curricular chamber music and orchestral concerts.

Dr. Farny gives hour lessons to Performance, Education, Applied, and recital-track Composition majors, and half-hour lessons to Therapy and Sound Recording majors. Students enjoy learning from guest artists through the Fredonia Fall String Festival, among other events.

"Your asset, outside of the amazing faculty at Fredonia, are the students who are so receptive, so hungry for great music and eager to learn at every opportunity." -- Nicholas Tzavaras, Cellist of the Shanghai String Quartet

Several studio members have studied abroad and after graduation, they have won teaching positions, orchestral jobs, and pursued graduate degrees at Peabody, Indiana University, Juilliard, University of South Florida, North Carolina School for the Arts, Boston University, SUNY Purchase, University of Delaware, and UNC Greensboro.
